This is a story which appeared today on the internet about a real Animal Hero.
Yesterday, if you asked us what we'd call a pet dog if you gave us one, we'd say Butch. Or Stan. Or Bruno. Something tough like that.Today? We'd call it Angela, after the toughest pooch on the planet, a golden retriever based in British Columbia, Canada.A family owes the life of their 11-year-old son to Angela, also known as Angel, after the heroic hound fought off a cougar that was attacking young Austin Forman.Austin was in their garden with Angela, the family's 18-month-old woofer, when he was charged by the wild cat. The courageous canine, boy's best friend, positioned herself between her young master and the cougar. The boy fled into his home, yelling: "A cougar is eating Angel!
Austin's mother, called police, and a nearby constable sped to the scene, where the wild cat was grappling with the dog in a fierce battle of the beasts. The cougar had dragged Angel under the porch, where it continued to savage the furry fighters neck and face despite the officer firing two rounds into its hind quarters. When the officer finally shot and killed the wild cat, its jaws remained closed on the dog's face. When the cat was finally killed, the dog was silent for a few moments, then took a big gasp of air and got to her feet. What a superstar! Angela, who has a swollen eye, is expected to recover fully.
