A piglet has become a Facebook sensation after being spared the chop and raised as a family pet.As the runt of the Shetland litter, little Lowrie's future looked bleak until owner Heather Davidson decided to hand-rear him indoors.Ms Davidson set up a Facebook page for the tiny pig "for a laugh" so that her friends could see his pink snout for themselves. But news of the piglet's plight spread quickly and he now boasts an extraordinary 2,845 (at the moment) devoted followers.Fans from as far away as Australia and Canada regularly sign on to see how Lowrie is progressing day by day.Heather told the Daily Mail: "It has just gone mad. He got 300 fans in half an hour. They come from all over the world."He was the runt of the litter. He was tiny. He was so small he could fit into the palm of my hand. He is double that now."And now Lowrie is enjoying all the attention. Ms Davidson went on: "He thinks he rules the roost. He squeals a lot if you pick him up."If he hears the microwave he comes running because he knows he'll get fed and he nibbles on people's feet to get attention."Luckily for this little porker, he now has his trotters so firmly under the table that he's even escaped the butcher's block.
